Privacy Policy

Mike Merola & Sons Plastering is a fifth generation family plastering business. We have served the Greater Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania since 1997. We are a service area business, which means we travel to you. We do not run a shop or an office that the public visits, so the only ways to reach us are by phone and by email.

This policy covers the website at mikemerolaplastering.com and the quote form on it. It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

There are two kinds of information here. The first is what you choose to give us. The second is technical information that is collected automatically when any website is visited.

When you fill in our quote form, we collect:

If you call us or email us instead, we have whatever you tell us in that call or that email, including your phone number or email address.

Collected automatically when you browse the site: your IP address, the type of device and browser you are using, the pages you looked at, how you moved and scrolled and clicked on those pages, and the site or search that sent you here. This is standard technical information and it is not used to work out who you are personally.

We use what you send us for three things.

We use the automatically collected information to understand which pages people find useful, to spot pages that are confusing or broken, and to make the site better. We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone who wants to advertise to you.

Photos are the most useful thing you can send us. A picture of a crack, a stained ceiling or a patch of failing plaster tells us more in a second than a paragraph does, and it is what lets us give you a sensible idea of the job before we set foot in the house.

We use the photos you upload to work out the scope of the job and to prepare your estimate. We may show them to the members of our own family crew who would be doing the work.

We will not publish a photo of your property on our website, on social media, or anywhere else without asking you first. If you say no, that is the end of it, and it makes no difference to the work or the price.

If you give us your phone number, we will use it to talk to you about your inquiry. That means a call, or a text about your estimate, your appointment, or a question about the job.

Our quote form has a checkbox reading "I agree to receive Non-Marketing SMS". Ticking it means you are happy for us to text you about your inquiry and your job. It is not a signup for promotions.

You can stop the messages at any time. Reply STOP to any text, or just tell us on the phone or by email that you would rather not be texted, and we will stop. Message and data rates from your own carrier may apply.

We are a plastering family, not a software company, so a few outside services do the technical work. Each one is listed here with what it does.

These companies handle information under their own privacy terms. We do not control what they collect on their own account.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people actually use this site. You should know exactly what that means, because it goes further than a page count.

Clarity records sessions. It captures how you move your mouse, where you scroll, what you click, and how long you spend on a page, and it can replay that visit back as a video of the page with your movements on it. It also builds heatmaps, which are pictures showing where visitors as a group click and how far down they read.

We use this for one purpose, which is making the site better. If everyone stops reading halfway down a page, or nobody can find the quote form on a phone, that is what we want to know.

Clarity is provided by Microsoft. It uses cookies and similar technologies to do this, and Microsoft may combine what it collects here with other data it holds. Microsoft's privacy statement explains what they do with it, and you can read it at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.

One important thing about form input. Clarity masks text typed into form fields by default, so the recording does not capture what you type. What you send us in the form still comes to us through GoHighLevel, in the normal way described above. The session replay is about how you moved around the page, not about reading your typing over your shoulder.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This site uses cookies and similar technologies for the analytics and session recording described above, and the embedded form and map may set their own.

Your browser is in charge here. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete the ones already stored, or warn you before accepting one. Look in your browser settings under privacy. Blocking them may stop parts of the site working properly, in particular the form and the map.

We keep your inquiry, your photos and your job details for as long as we need them to do the work and to meet our records obligations as a business. In practice that means an inquiry that turns into a job is kept with the record of that job, and an inquiry that goes nowhere is kept for a while in case you come back to it.

Analytics and session recordings are kept for the period the analytics service holds them, which is set by that service and not by us.

Residents of some states have additional rights over their personal information under state law. If you think that applies to you, contact us and tell us what you want, and we will deal with it.

This site is for homeowners and property owners arranging plastering work. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will remove it.

If what we do with information changes, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top of it. That date always tells you which version you are reading.

We are a service area business and we travel to the customer, so there is no counter to walk up to. Phone and email are the two ways to reach us, and both go to the family.
